L&T Grants gathering

Reconnecting ANU learning and teaching grant recipients

With the mid-point of the ANU Strategic Learning and Teaching Grants approaching, grant recipients came together in March to shed light on progress, achievements and challenges. The Reconnect event buzzed with conversation as attendees exchanged ideas and insights.

The Australian Government’s National Priorities and Industry Linkage Fund (NPILF) has funded twenty-eight ANU Strategic Learning and Teaching grants, launched in October 2023. Project teams from across the university were granted funds to support innovation and renewal in learning and teaching at the ANU.

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) Geoff Hinchcliffe opened the event with a welcome and Susanne Jones, the Program Lead for Employability & Industry Initiatives, provided information about mid-term reporting requirements. Attendees then joined discussion tables to share stories about their projects so far, raise challenges, and learn from each other’s experiences.

A range of topics were addressed during the discussions. These included the navigation of ethics approval applications, linking attendees from projects with related objectives, exploring supports available from central ANU teams, and contemplating future project directions.

More than twenty staff from various grant projects and disciplines attended the event. They embraced the opportunity to connect across projects and enjoy refreshments. The CLT Education Design team actively participated in discussions, identifying opportunities for collaboration and support. The McDonald Room at the Menzies Library was an outstanding venue for the event.

With more events on the horizon, we look forward to fostering a community of educators dedicated to transforming teaching and learning at ANU.
