VICE-CHANCELLOR’S AWARD FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE
CANDIDATE
Dr Sara Rapson uses her passion for the diversity and function of life to create engaging learning environments for biology students. Teaching at ANU, she has been able to help students progress from the very start of their tertiary study in foundational biology courses all the way through to identifying their own career values and opportunities before they successfully transition into the workplace when they graduate and ‘leave the nest’.
"As a biologist, I view my classroom a bit like an ecosystem, where really small changes can either lead to a significantly better experience or worse experience for the students."

"Toddlers start at a very young age to learn about biology by playing in the mud and with sticks and poking things. And, it's that joy of learning that I really love watching the students remember, and take with them as they move forward."
