Creating impact through collaboration, connection, and transdisciplinary practice.

ANU Strategic Learning and Teaching Grants Network

The ANU Strategic Learning and Teaching Grants were established by the Academic portfolio to accelerate the University’s program of educational renewal. Staff are collaborating on a range of ambitious projects, progressing ANU towards its 2025 goals and its commitment to deliver a student experience equal to the world’s best.

The Grants link staff throughout ANU, creating a community of connection, support, and innovation. This was in strong evidence at the official launch event on the 18th October.

“Something we’ve got now with these grants is that sense of ‘it’s not just us in a little pocket down our side of the campus’” says grant recipient Dr Stephen Dann. “We are a community, and we can help each other” adds Dr Bernardo Pereira Nunes.

Recipient Professor Louis Moresi also appreciated the opportunity to decrease silos and share learning, “…Hopefully, as we go forward with this, we’ll see more opportunities to collaborate and similarities with things that other people are doing.

The twenty-eight grant recipients have now kicked off their projects, spanning up to 12 months. A full list of all Phase 1 recipients is located on the ANU Strategic Learning and Teaching Grants website. Support and connection is maintained via the Grants Network, with ongoing events throughout 2024.

As grantees Dr Katerina Kormusheva and Dr Edwina Fingleton-Smith discuss their transdisciplinary collaboration, it’s clear that connections formed between academics will have tangible benefits for students. They identify success as the “cross-pollination of ideas” of educators leading to students that are “really equipped to be leaders” due to a deep understanding of other fields.

The second round of grant applications will open in early 2024. Stay tuned for details on the second round which will be available soon on this website ANU Strategic Learning and Teaching Grants.
