Dr Richard W. Frank

School of Politics and International Relations, ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences

VICE-CHANCELLOR’S AWARD FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE
CANDIDATE

Dr Richard W. Frank is a Lecturer in the School of Politics and International Relations. His teaching and research focus is on international relations, comparative politics and political methodology. Students in his classes ask important, fundamental questions about politics, power and political violence, then develop their own answers by studying (and producing) cutting-edge research. His goal is to produce students who think clearly, systematically and deeply about the important issues of their day.

"You really get to expand people's horizons and to see people learn about topics
and parts of the world they hadn't had any experience with."
Dr Richard W. Frank

"I consider research and teaching two sides of the same coin. My research feeds into the material that I teach and the way that I teach. And my teaching also is a great reality check
on the assumptions that I have in my research."
Dr Richard W. Frank
