Meet the Learning Space Technology team

As Semester 1 kicks off you might notice that some teaching spaces within your School or College are receiving a technology and environmental refresh. The Learning Space Technology (LST) team are committed to embedding modern, user friendly and consistent learning space technology that will enable greater flexibility and supportability for hybrid learning, and ensuring our systems are secure and compliant to Australian learning space technology standards.

With a large number of rooms needing a technical refresh the LST team work tirelessly behind the scenes performing these upgrades. The team is led by Dr April Weiss, Associate Director Application Services (who you can hear in the video below) and is made up of:

  • Kevin Knox – LST Manager
  • Georgina Mayne – LST Project Manager
  • Nathan Paterson – LST Senior Architect
  • Mark Gillespie – LST Architect
  • Aulia Putri – LST Project Support
  • Dr April Weiss – LST lead

2022 Room Upgrades

Of the 23 rooms currently being upgraded, 12 are equipped for hybrid learning (dual delivery), catering for asynchronous and synchronous communication with the new technology improving the audio and visual quality for both remote and in-room students.

The remaining 11 rooms are receiving full upgrades, with new learning space technology equipment being installed as well as significant refurbishments such as new carpet and paint.

Whilst COVID and delivery supply chains have caused some delays in the schedule, the team are working hard to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible, working in close collaboration with Facilities and Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) to minimise disruptions as we move into the start of O-Week and Semester 1.

Book a workshop session

Book your spot in one of several familiarisation sessions that are scheduled over the coming weeks. We’ll cover the technical aspects (which button to push) as well as outline what you can achieve from a teaching perspective with the equipment in each room.

More teaching space upgrades are scheduled for upgrade throughout 2022 and we’ll continue to provide more information on this as it becomes available.
